Steps versus Waves

“I never fight when the life is wavy. Only sometime when it's stepy! And if you are cooking well, ok, life is wavy (or not... if I get burn) :-P” reads the note on Facebook. I am confused.
Our last encounter: in the shadow of the Louvre, 3 am, raised voices and harsh words. This was followed by a barrage of angry accusatory emails and then… silence…
After dinner, as he is about to leave, he explains that he is “wavy.” That is he reacts slowly to change, or perhaps rather, dedicates time to adjusting to new circumstances.
I, on the other hand, am “stepy,” he explains drawing some sort of bar graph in my tattered journal to help explain. I live my life by making big decisions quickly. The result – high plateaus drop to deep valleys- emotion junky.
I think he may be right. I do tend to make big decisions quickly and act in ways that may seem rather irrational to some. It makes being with me rather difficult, I imagine. But I get stuff done and this way of living has provided me with a rich diversity of experiences. I am, indeed, a steper and not a wave rider.
